Found some new music. Listen, absorb, love, share, repeat. Also, the first 8 songs will be by female bands/artists because I've been trying to find more of them to listen to recently and you should, too!
1. Super America - Bad Bad Hats
Super America is the gas station where lead singer Kerry Alexander and her friends spent a lot of their time. She dedicates this song to "all sad people in college eatin' snacks and livin' their lives with their friends." I love her sweet voice. Another cool line from it is, "I want you more than I want the things you lack." Wowza.
I want a Pepsi and heart that won't break
2. Stabler - The Prettiots
Can you tell that these girls are obsessed with the Law and Order: SVU character, Elliot Stabler??
I love it. It makes me smile. And dance.
I love it. It makes me smile. And dance.
| You've left your fingerprints all over my mind |
3. Tea, Milk, & Honey - Oh Pep!
Listen to this and don't think twice about it because "thinking twice will lead you into a bad place."
No space for time | |
4. Don't Ever Let Your Children Grow Up - Maddie Poppe
I don't watch American Idol, but I saw Maddie Poppe's version of Brand New Key and loved it so I had to see if she had any originals. She sang this for her audition and her Hollywood week solo. Her voice is strong and beautiful, as is her songwriting. I love the line at the end: "And although at times it gets so rough, you have gotta let your children grow up." The video is super sweet, too, with all the home videos. :')
| We should have known |
5. I Don't Believe in Us (acoustic) - Overcoats
I've already been listening to Overcoats for a while because their harmonies are stunning - and I actually like the electronic qualities of their songs, as well. However, for this song, I love this completely stripped-down version with just Hana, JJ, and an electric guitar.
I've spent my life searching for some things I'll never find
6. Fool - Frankie Cosmos
Simple & mellow.
| You look to me |
7. Into the Lantern Waste - Sarah Sparks
Banjo!! This whole album was inspired by C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, so that's neato.
You might turn the page or you might shut the book
8. Fireworks - First Aid Kit
Love. These. Sisters.
| I am the only one at the finish line |
9. Freakin' Out on the Interstate - Briston Maroney
Apparently this guy was on American Idol, too, who knew lol (in 2014, when he was just 15). His voice is interesting because it's deeper when he speaks than when he sings. I love his name, his voice, his style, and this video. He says, "enjoy this video of a youthful, worn, complex Briston Maroney doing nothing but truly 'freaking out' in various different aesthetically pleasing locations. Aye caramba!"
Fear is just a part of love
10. Beautiful Life - the Collection
The Collection is one of my favorite bands ever and just released this single last month. David Wimbish's songwriting has always touched my heart and this song is no exception. I can't wait for their next album! Oh, give me all you can of this beautiful life :')
| This whole world is your home so reach out your branches, let your roots down to the soil, and watch the rain help you grow |
So did ya find some new stuff to love?? I know, I know - my eclectic music taste truly rocks.
