I found this British band several years ago (I think I was in seventh grade at the time), listened to them for a while and then I stopped (don't ask why; I have no idea). I had three of their songs on my little iPod Nano. They've released a couple more albums since then and I'm really obsessing over them right now. The lead singer's voice and songwriting have improved tremendously and I'm kinda in love. Also I watched a bunch of their live videos five nights in a row last week, yes I did.

Hooray for finally doing Part 2 in this series! I've compiled a ranking of my top 15 favorite covers by my favorite band. They've covered many great artists and songs very well. Read Part 1 here if you missed my personal favorites list.
I've been putting this one off for a while, because Weezer is one of those bands that just has too many great songs and it was pretty hard to cut the list down to a mere 15. I tried to pick songs I love that less people know, so while I absolutely love all the singles like "I Want You To" and "Say It Ain't So" and classics like "My Name Is Jonas", they won't be on this list. Maybe another list, another time. Since I'll be seeing them in concert soon, I decided it was time to compile this one.
**Songs are listed in chronological order by album, which is why the list is not numbered I recently found this remarkably talented and extraordinary band and it has quickly moved to my top ten, I think. They're more obscure, though, so a lot of their earlier songs aren't even on YouTube. But they have a bandcamp where you can get a couple of their albums for free! Since they're newer on the scene, I was actually able to choose just 5 favorite songs, so enjoy the semi-brevity. ;)
This is a multiple part spotlight because The Avett Brothers truly deserve all the spotlights. Just listen to their entire discography—believe me, that is the spotlight hahaha. Anyway, here are my personal favorite 15 songs (because narrowing it down to 10 just wasn't possible), in chronological order—obviously I can't choose an ultimate favorite:
There are just 17 days left until I get to see Panic! live for the first time (you better believe I have a countdown!), so I thought I'd highlight my favorite songs by them this time. They've changed a lot in 10 years and "they" has recently become "he", as Brendon Urie is the sole remaining member. Bassist Dallon Weekes, guitarist Kenneth Harris, and drummer Dan Pawlovich now only accompany Brendon on tour--they no longer contribute creatively.
I think it's going to be wayy too hard to feature just five songs so I may do ten, oops heh. The Killers have definitely been killin' it through my speakers lately. I'd say they've easily made it into my Top 5 favorite bands along with The Avett Brothers, twenty one pilots, Weezer, and Panic! At the Disco--quite a wide variety of genres, I know. I was going to do a Song of the Moment for them, but I can't just pick one song to feature because out of all of their 80+ songs (yes, I've heard ALL of them), there are only about 12-15 that I don't care for.
With that said, I'd like to introduce a new series called Spotlight where I will talk about my favorite bands and link more than just one song to give everyone a better idea of what the band is like. IN doing this, I really hope you will be inspired to start listening to these amazing artists (if you haven't been already). Keep reading for a few of my favorite Killers songs! |
