I've seen this challenge circulating on social media, and I thought it would be fun to do on here. For this format, I'll be posting it in three parts with ten songs each instead of posting daily. I guess it's not much of a "challenge" that way, but I'll still have to be particular in my choices. Enjoy!
CHRISTMASTIME IS HERE! We are less than 10 days away!! I've been too busy with finals, so I wasn't able to write this post starting on the actual 12 days leading up to it.
I found this British band several years ago (I think I was in seventh grade at the time), listened to them for a while and then I stopped (don't ask why; I have no idea). I had three of their songs on my little iPod Nano. They've released a couple more albums since then and I'm really obsessing over them right now. The lead singer's voice and songwriting have improved tremendously and I'm kinda in love. Also I watched a bunch of their live videos five nights in a row last week, yes I did.
This year has been huge for me in the vinyl world. I got my first record player last December and my collection has steadily grown to 23 albums (not individual records, some are double LPs). I thought I'd share my current collection with you all now since the year is over and I'll update it at the end of next year and so on. Because of course I'm not done.
Asterisks (**) indicate the albums I recieved at Christmas. All of the rest were either bought by me or my dad earlier in the year. Hooray for finally doing Part 2 in this series! I've compiled a ranking of my top 15 favorite covers by my favorite band. They've covered many great artists and songs very well. Read Part 1 here if you missed my personal favorites list.
I've been putting this one off for a while, because Weezer is one of those bands that just has too many great songs and it was pretty hard to cut the list down to a mere 15. I tried to pick songs I love that less people know, so while I absolutely love all the singles like "I Want You To" and "Say It Ain't So" and classics like "My Name Is Jonas", they won't be on this list. Maybe another list, another time. Since I'll be seeing them in concert soon, I decided it was time to compile this one.
**Songs are listed in chronological order by album, which is why the list is not numbered Rivers Cuomo Wrote a Song for the Monkees's NEW Album and I Don't Know What to Do with Myself6/4/2016 Yes, the Monkees are STILL making music. And yes, the frontman of WEEZER wrote a song for them. And I've gotta tell you all about it.
PSA: The Avett Brothers sang a new song last night. You NEED to hear it. It's vital to your survival. No joke. I've already listened to it more than 5 times in a row and it's already my favorite. Get ready to clap/stomp/sing along. (And look at Seth just jammin' out; it's great)
UPDATE: They just announced that their new album 'True Sadness' will be coming out on June 24!! The Killers have definitely been killin' it through my speakers lately. I'd say they've easily made it into my Top 5 favorite bands along with The Avett Brothers, twenty one pilots, Weezer, and Panic! At the Disco--quite a wide variety of genres, I know. I was going to do a Song of the Moment for them, but I can't just pick one song to feature because out of all of their 80+ songs (yes, I've heard ALL of them), there are only about 12-15 that I don't care for.
With that said, I'd like to introduce a new series called Spotlight where I will talk about my favorite bands and link more than just one song to give everyone a better idea of what the band is like. IN doing this, I really hope you will be inspired to start listening to these amazing artists (if you haven't been already). Keep reading for a few of my favorite Killers songs! Genre: Garage rock |
