Since I don't already have enough, I thought I might as well start a new series (and of course it's in the music section). These are just songs that I have come across either during the past few months or ones that I am currently putting on repeat. I don't necessarily listen to these bands all the time like I do the ones I choose to feature in spotlights. I also won't go into as much depth with these unless I feel the need to for some reason.
There's a place - the all american rejects
Okay, so we've all heard Gives You Hell, Move Along, and It Ends Tonight from like six years ago, but have you heard this new BALLAD? It was featured in the 2015 film Miss You Already, which lead singer Tyson Ritter also starred in. I love his voice and it's really beautiful in this song (minus the one profane word at the beginning).

Book of Love - jimmy eat world
This is the same band that sings The Middle, which is a classic early 2000's song I feel like almost everyone has heard somehow. I've really only heard that song until I found this one about two months ago, and it's also pretty good.

Am i pretty? - the maine
"You are beautiful because your eyes are different sizes and your lisp gets in between your tongue and teeth every time you try to say "something". You are beautiful because the scar under your chin looks like a spider and because you have a massive fear of heights. You are beautiful because there never has been, nor will there ever be anyone else on this Earth like you. Because your flaws are like fingerprints and should be embraced just like the free will that resides inside. You are not beautiful because of the symmetry in the little squares on your telephone, you are beautiful because "you" are the only "you" this place will ever know."

something to believe in - young the giant
I just recently started listening to Young the Giant for the first time in a while and this song is a single that came out two weeks ago from their upcoming album "Home of the Strange". I like the way it's sang and the part that says, "realize you're a slave to your mind; break free". If you like this, their other single Amerika is also out.

doing the right thing - daughter
I could say a whole lot about this song but I'll keep it short-ish. It has a very powerful message about about dementia, Alzheimer's, and the effects on families. It's very close to me because my grandma had dementia shortly before she passed away last year. It perfectly encapsulates the feelings of fear associated with the realization that you yourself may eventually show signs of having the disease you just witnessed destroy your own loved one. You don't just lose your life all of a sudden--you slowly lose everything you've ever known. I know that's a hard thing to think and talk about, but it's real. Elena's vocals are hauntingly beautiful (so is the video) and the song is autobiographical for her, as well. If my life had a soundtrack, this song would definitely be on it.
