I've seen this challenge circulating on social media, and I thought it would be fun to do on here. For this format, I'll be posting it in three parts with ten songs each instead of posting daily. I guess it's not much of a "challenge" that way, but I'll still have to be particular in my choices. Enjoy!
CHRISTMASTIME IS HERE! We are less than 10 days away!! I've been too busy with finals, so I wasn't able to write this post starting on the actual 12 days leading up to it.
This year has been huge for me in the vinyl world. I got my first record player last December and my collection has steadily grown to 23 albums (not individual records, some are double LPs). I thought I'd share my current collection with you all now since the year is over and I'll update it at the end of next year and so on. Because of course I'm not done.
Asterisks (**) indicate the albums I recieved at Christmas. All of the rest were either bought by me or my dad earlier in the year. Hooray for finally doing Part 2 in this series! I've compiled a ranking of my top 15 favorite covers by my favorite band. They've covered many great artists and songs very well. Read Part 1 here if you missed my personal favorites list.
I recently found this remarkably talented and extraordinary band and it has quickly moved to my top ten, I think. They're more obscure, though, so a lot of their earlier songs aren't even on YouTube. But they have a bandcamp where you can get a couple of their albums for free! Since they're newer on the scene, I was actually able to choose just 5 favorite songs, so enjoy the semi-brevity. ;)
This is a multiple part spotlight because The Avett Brothers truly deserve all the spotlights. Just listen to their entire discography—believe me, that is the spotlight hahaha. Anyway, here are my personal favorite 15 songs (because narrowing it down to 10 just wasn't possible), in chronological order—obviously I can't choose an ultimate favorite:
PSA: The Avett Brothers sang a new song last night. You NEED to hear it. It's vital to your survival. No joke. I've already listened to it more than 5 times in a row and it's already my favorite. Get ready to clap/stomp/sing along. (And look at Seth just jammin' out; it's great)
UPDATE: They just announced that their new album 'True Sadness' will be coming out on June 24!! In lieu of recent news that Mumford and Sons will be recording a completely different music style, I'd like to commemorate their original folksy banjo style that will be dearly missed: Genre: Folk Rock |
